The Mediterranean Region

Carrying all the delightful characteristics of the same-name sea, the Mediterranean Region extends along the south of the country with its colourful and charming view. Wide forests covering the mountains complement the vast green meadows, while fascinating waterfalls accompany beautiful broad lakes.

Within this harmonious atmosphere the Mediterranean Region offers holidays as colourful as the land itself. If you are a sun-worshipper, it is just the right place with the typical Mediterranean climate over its impressive shores. From April to October, sunbathing and swimming are not only possible but warranted, so that you may enjoy the unspoiled bays and clean waters of the popular resorts like; Alanya, Side, Belek or Kemer. Winters are pleasantly mild, despite the snow falling over the high Taurus Mountains rolling from east to west and offer perfect opportunities for winter vacationers, like in Saklikent to the south of Antalya. If you prefer just the opposite type of holiday away from the crowd, noise and the tiring tempo, the same region surprisingly will satisfy your needs with the quiet, untouched bays with nice beaches, like the ones at Kas, and Kalkan.

In addition to these contrastingly natural areas, ancient heritages are spread all over this region for sightseers and history lovers. Traces of human settlements dating back to times as early as the Paleolithic age are found here near Karain, Belbasi and Beldibi in Antalya. Termessos, Perge and Aspendos, which are the cities of ancient Pamphylia, offer many treasures of the past with monuments from the oldest civilizations.
